Hey Peggy! I’m writing this post just for you. I cannot wait for you and your families’
arrival, it has been awhile since the last time I saw you and your two adorable
kids. I received the message that you
want to visit the Port of Lost Wonder (POLW). I myself went down to the
attraction and I got some interesting information for you.
It is located near Pahlawan Beach near the Beach Car Park.
The admission charge is applicable to each taxi or car entering Sentosa. The admission
charge varies according to time period. If you are taking the taxi, alight at
Beach taxi stand and walk for 5 minutes to POLW. As for car, you can park your
car at Beach car park the blue zone and walk for 2 minutes to POLW. The
attraction is very accessible.
To enter the Port of Lost Wonder, it is a free admission
for people who are above 12 years old but children below 12 years old have to
pay for the admission fee that cost $10 for weekdays and $15 for weekends.
Therefore, you are free to enter the attraction but you have to pay the admission
fee for Ariessa and Conor. I suggest you going on the weekdays as it would be
less crowded and what’s more, it is cheaper!
In the past the guest will also enter from the magic door however it is closed but displayed there and it will be lighted up at night.
As you enter, you will be welcomed by the crew and you
will see a prominent play area for the kids. It is a humongous pirate ship
which relates to the theme of the attraction. This attraction is designed specially for young explorers like your children. There are other play areas such
as the curiosity island to play ball games and curiosity garden for pot and
planks. Not only that, your kids can wonder around at the area called hatch
patch.
Upon entrance, your children will receive 50 curio coins
with port pass on weekdays and 100 curio coins with port pass for weekends.
Peggy, you must be wondering what is so special about curio coins right? The
objective of this attraction is to allow your children to learn more about
self-sufficiency. They are to manage their own finances. They are supposed to
use the curio coins to pay for an activity at the Port of Lost Wonder or for a
surprise snack but they have to be aware of the sound of the bell. However,
when your children do not have enough curio coins you do not have to worry
because you can purchase at the retail store.
They also promote to parents about the membership which
you can apply for $120 per annum and in addition there are plenty of benefits
such as 100 curio coins, 1 port pass, unlimited admission, unlimited fun and
more. The port pass is basically like a passport that a child brings to Port of
Lost wonder to have fun and collecting stamps. They have to collect 5 identical
stamps in a line to win a silver prize but to win a gold prize they have to
collect 5 different stamps in a line. Hence, they have to complete the port
pass to win a special prize. This is to encourage participation and leadership
instead of letting children sitting alone.
When you and your kids are ready to play at the pirate
ship, there will be 3 slides which are the green, blue and red. As said by one
of the crew, green slide is the fastest slide for him personally.
If your kids
want to play sports game, they can play at curiosity island which allow to play
basketball and soccer for the kids. There is also the classic hopscotch.
Actually, you do not have to worry about
your child do not have any activities to do there because the POLW itself have
their daily programme schedule. There will be more activities to do during the
weekends. They have scheduled programmes from the start of operating hour till
the end. They are very specific and well organised. They will programme these
activities on both weekdays and weekends which are called, “capture the flag”,
playchute, “pots & planks”, “teach us wild!”, “storytelling in action” and
“polw boogie”. However, “bubble party” is the additional programme on weekends
which is like an interval between the common programmes mentioned.
After playing too much, you and the kids will surely feel
hungry. There is a food restaurant, Pork Belly Restaurant for everyone to
dine-in. There is kids’ meal for your kids. There is a rule that says “no
outside food or drinks”, they strictly do not allow this to happen. They will
for sure stop you at the entrance when they see the outside food and drinks.
If
you feel like shopping, there is a retail shop named, “Just Wonder”. Linking to
the name, you can just wander around the shop for your children. You can buy
some edutainment toys and games and at the same time you can grab some apparel,
slippers and more. Not forgetting to inform you that there is an area called
“the deck”, which you can have a scenic picnic with your kids surrounded by the
blue sky, green grass and the big pirate ship.
Peggy, if I am not mistaken Conor’s birthday is around
the corner and you wanted to do a birthday party for him right? I suggest you
make a reservation for Conor’s birthday party at POLW. They do have birthday
party packages. This will be a unique venue for Conor’s birthday celebration.
They are many fantastic packages that will make the celebration truly special.
You do not have to think of what to do or
come up with ideas, all you need to do is just to enjoy the special day with
your kids because the Port of Lost Wonder team will plan for the event. Before
choosing the package of your choice, pick your preferred date, set the party
time 11am-1pm or 3pm-5pm. There are two different birthday package to choose
from. Package B is the “Wet N’ Wild Party Package with Party Games” for 20
children at $899++ ($30++ per additional child). Package C is the “Celebration
Package” for 20 children at $1200++ ($50++ per additional child). You are given
a choice to choose a theme which is, “Pirates on Adventure”, “Sweet Princess”
and “Hawaiian Aloha”. Both packages inclusive of, dedicated party host to spice
up your child’s party, fun and exciting party games, exclusive use of
Celebration Island for 2 hours, party food catered for 20 children which is
choose from Kids Party Standard Menu or from Kids Party Premium Menu for
birthday party package B and C respectively. There will be invitation cards for
your guests for package B and
customized POLW invitation card for the guests for package C.
There will be an
interaction with the animals as well.
The only special activity for the choice of package C is that there is an exclusive 1-hour of the Bubble Party (Foam Pool) for the children.
Obviously there are rules and safety tips to
take note when you are at POLW; the water play area is suited for the age of
3-10 years old but it is better with parent’s supervision. Appropriate swimwear
and swimming diapers to be worn in the water play area. No footwear allowed
within the play area and remember to apply sunblock to protect yourself from UV
rays. Important to know that no outside food or drinks allowed to be brought
into POLW. If you bring them in you will be stopped at the entrance as they
strictly do not allow it. You also have to mind the P’s and Q’s which are play
safe, potty matters and queue.
There will be signage of the rules and safety tips
near the pirate ship.
Personally, POLW is very clean as they keep their decks
clean and safe. This is because like the swimming pool, the Pirate Ship has an
awesome system that filters the water and treats it with chlorine and germs at
the bay. The water is replaced and tested regularly. The water samples from the
Pirate Ship are tested weekly to meet the National Entertainment Agency’s code
of practice for swimming pools. It is also closed once a monthly for super
thorough cleaning and maintenance. They do not only focus on the Pirate Ship
but also the counter and other touch points which are sanitized twice daily to
keep germs and bacteria away.
The toilet is very clean and they have a baby care area for parents to clean up their babies.
There is a problem during rainy days as there are no
sufficient shelters only the retail store, the celebration island and the play
room. The crews are very approachable and there are lifeguards around the pool
area. The place is attractive which for sure will attract your kids. One thing
that they are most concern is that the parents are to supervise and play with
their children as to promote family bond which is one of their objective of
this attraction. Parents are advised to not use their phones like to serve the
net even though there is a free wifi.
POLW is a successful attraction as it now opened for 2
years and the number of visitors kept increasing. POLW is ranked 12th out of 28th attractions in Sentosa Island. POLW's main source of revenue is from the food and beverages and retail store. As the number of visitors increases, the admission fee also increases throughout the past 2 years from $8 to $10 on weekdays. They have their own
facebook page which has more than 8000 likes. Many parents have blogged about
their day at POLW as the place has left a good impression to them. POLW was
visited by popular Singapore artists and they gave good reviews. POLW have conducted many events on special occasions like "Spooky Jr." on Halloween. POLW has also been promoted internationally which many Caucasians are seen there. There are many reviews from the visitors such as a visitor from Perth, Australia said, "A must for the kids under 7, we were so excited too, I felt like a kid again best place, cheap good food, tire out the kids for sure, a must for anyone with children".
I can assure you that Ariessa and Conor will have so much fun there and it will be relaxing for you too. I will see you soon and your lovely kids. Take care and much misses!
